The challenges and requests of the Eminönü tradesmen were discussed in the Local Meeting program that was hosted by the Fatih Municipality. AK Party Deputy Chairman Hayati Yazıcı, Fatih Mayor Mustafa Demir, tradesmen of the Grand Bazaar and Spice Bazaar and the representative of the Non-Governmental Organizations participated in the meeting, which was held in the Eminönü Social Facilities. “This Is Our Guest Room, A Part of Our Identity”
Having consulted with the tradesmen, Fatih Mayor Mustafa Demir said in his speech that “We hold one of the meetings here that we make under the name of local meetings. We made our previous meetings in different parts of Fatih. The reason why we are here today is that this place is our exposed face, our guest room and a part of our identity. This is one of the important places where people around the world come and grade us for cleaning, people, landscaping of gardens and squares and our behaviors. In fact, this is not only Fatih and Istanbul, this is the center of the world, and one of the places that will describe us to the world without making one single word. Therefore, we attach great importance to this place and show particular sensitivity while working.”
“More Than 5 Thousand Artifacts Were Renovated Since 2002”
AK Party Deputy Chairman Hayati Yazıcı mentioned that the artifacts, which have been renovated since 2002, are over 5 thousand, and he said: “Every part of our geography is very rich with historical artifacts and cultural heritage. It is very important to appreciate them. Here, the people engaging in commercial activity and trying to put bread on the table and sweating for that in the Spice Bazaar, Grand Bazaar and Flower Market find peace when they see the historical artifacts, which are spectacular and having and identity, are being renovated. We talked about historical richness. I want to make a comparison in Turkey. The number of foundation artifacts, cultural heritage, which were renovated in four years between the years of 1998-2002, was only 48. However, the number of foundation artifacts, water-tank with a fountain, bridge, Turkish bath and library, which were repaired and renovated, are over 5 thousand.”
