The ‘Water Sports Festival’ conducted in Golden Horn ended with an exciting finale.
Mustafa Demir, Mayor of Fatih Municipality, handed the top ranking athletes their awards at the end of the races, where competition was tough.
The Water Sports Festival organized by Fatih Municipality ended with a glorious finale. Athletes rowed to rise to the top rank at the Turkish Inter-university Rowing Cup, Turkish Inter-university Sea Canoe Championship, Dragon Boat Races and Dinghy Races run on the Balat shoreline.
Known for his interest in sports, Mustafa Demir, Mayor of Fatih Municipality, rowed and competed relentlessly against the athletes during the finals. As athletes did their best for the first place, citizens had a joyful time at the festival area established by the shore.
Demir: “The Aim is to Make Haliç a Water Sports Center”
Mustafa Demir, Mayor of Fatih Municipality, noted that they wished to have a more comprehensive reception of water sports in Golden Horn: “In the upcoming years, there will not be only canoe but also yacht and rowing races. Our aim is to make Golden Horn a water sports center with its beautiful view. We are working on it. We wish sports to be an activity practiced not only several days a year but on a constant basis. Participation of association members was higher than that of universities in this year’s races. I would like to congratulate them on that account.”
At the end of hours of challenging final races, top rankers received their awards from Mustafa Demir, Mayor of Fatih Municipality.
