Educational Protocol between Sulukule Art Academy and ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory

An educational protocol for academic music education has been signed between the Fatih Municipality Sulukule Art Academy and the Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory.
Fatih Municipality improves the art-education programs of Sulukule Art Academy with its cooperation with the Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Turkish Music State Conservatory. An academic music education protocol has been signed between the Fatih Municipality Sulukule Art Academy and the Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory. The protocol, through which new talents will be discovered and the young generation will be provided education with an innovative approach for enabling them to adapt the world music system, was signed by the Fatih Mayor Mustafa Demir and the Rector of the Istanbul Technical University Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca and the director of the ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory Prof. Dr. Adnan Koç.

Giving information about the signed education protocol, the Fatih Mayor Mustafa Demir said: “We started to give education in the Fatih Municipality Sulukule Art Academy 3 years ago, part time education is given in the building and it has also some hobby classes, and approximately 2 thousand 500 hundred students take courses under this roof. In accordance with the protocol that we made with the Istanbul Technical University, we will continue to do these works with them. From our point of view, it is very important for us to send these children to where they are supposed to be, meaning the schools where they can receive the bets theoretical and practical education under the supervision of the university, after receiving two year part time education in this academy. Undoubtedly, I believe that this academy is a very important stage for the sustainability of these children’s education and for reaching to the main target that has to be achieved with the cooperation of Istanbul Technical University, which is the most competent in this field.”
Fatih Mayor Demir, who also talked about the “One Orchestra For Each School Project”, said that the there is a high demand for the Sulukule Art Academy.

The Fatih Municipality Sulukule Children’s Orchestra performed a music concert in the ceremony.
