Volunteer Tourism Ambassadors Have Started Working
The Volunteer Tourism Ambassadors Project, which has been implemented to help tourists, was started for the 8th time along with the meeting held in Hagia Sophia Square.
The Volunteer Tourism Ambassadors Project, which has been implemented by Fatih Municipality and the 8th of which was held in this year, was started along with the introductory meeting held in Hagia Sophia Square. Mayor of Fatih Mustafa Demir, Istanbul Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Dr. Coşkun Yılmaz, tourism ambassadors and a large number of citizens participated in the meeting.
In the meeting, Mayor Demir stated that, with the project, they aim to help tourists who come to the historical peninsula from the four corners of the world. Indicating that Turkey has an important potential in the field of tourism, Demir pointed out that the task of the young is very important.
We Have Highly Educated Conscious People
Indicating that there is a great tourism potential in Turkey despite the negative events experienced, Mayor of Fatih Mustafa Demir said, “We aim that the young people who are studying at university or high school and have received foreign language education help tourists who come to our country, historical peninsula, from all over the world within the “Ask Me” project during summer holiday. We provide them with a particular education. We told them that what they do is very important, that they represent our country in every aspect, and that our values are very effective in spreading our culture all over the world. After this project is over, people who came here to meet our country and made contact with our young people in connection with the Ask Me Project convey their thanks by e-mail from where they go. It happens again despite all these problems, the coup attempt and the terror. Because when our country is compared to other world countries, we have highly educated conscious people in terms of human factor”.
The meeting ended when Mayor Demir and his entourages had a souvenir photograph taken with the Volunteer Tourism Ambassadors, and tourism ambassadors also moved to their places of duty to help tourists.
2000 students applied to become a Volunteer Tourism Ambassador, and 450 students who succeeded in written and oral examinations were entitled to become volunteer tourism ambassadors. Tourism ambassadors consisting of high school and university students aged between 14 and 30 will work in Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilica, Divanyolu, Grand Bazaar and Eminönü. Tourism ambassadors wearing clothes on which “Ask Me” is written will help tourists in English, German, Arabic, Spanish, French, Russian, Korean, Japanese, Italian and Chinese. Volunteer Tourism Ambassadors will help tourists by working until Friday, September 8.
